Alfajores

Alfajores are sandwich cookies usually with a layer of dulce de leche between two cake-like cookies and coated in chocolate. There are a million brands of them and my goal is to try them all and find the best one. They sell them everywhere, especially in kioskos and superkioskos which are everywhere in the city and are also where you go to reload money on your cellphone.

A selection in a kiosko. The ones pictured in the purple wrapper are triple-layered which I have yet to try.

The ones on the left aren't coated in chocolate but that's the concept.

I wanted to try this one because it was sponsored by the best football team here, the Boca Jrs. As I was paying my AR$6 the salesman said that it would make me feel sick. I was confused and he asked if I knew "River Plate," which is the Boca Jrs's rival team. He explained that he's a huge fan, hates Boca Jrs, and thus the joke about the cookie making me sick.
